Objectives

To test the practicability and acceptance of a ‘train-the-trainer’ course on peer support to patients with diabetes in Hong Kong.
To assess the efficacy of the training on the attitudes, behaviour, knowledge and self efficacy of peer leaders with diabetes compared to usual patients with diabetes (controls).
To explore if training patients with diabetes to become peer leaders has an impact upon their own glycemic parameters, self-management skills and quality of life compared to usual patients with diabetes (controls).
