Objectives

To explore the utility and acceptability of a telephone-based structured education system to support patients with diabetes
To assess the efficacy of a voice-based, interactive, computer-activated telephone support system to enhance the standard of clinical care, behavioural changes and quality of life (QoL) in patients with diabetes receiving protocol-driven, multidisciplinary care.
To investigate what specific components, and their optimal mix, of a peer support system affects any potential changes in glycemic parameters and self-management behaviours in patients with diabetes.
